NEW FOR 2017! STORM THE FORT CYCLOSPORTIVE
Storm the Fort Sportive lets you experience the same route as the Duathletes will use – only without having to run before and after!
There are two routes to choose from – the full 91km route or a less demanding 56km route
The 56km route is the first loop of the duathlon course and with approx 600m of elevation, it is by no means easy and takes in the long climb from the A489 to the summit of the Kerry Ridgeway before the descent to Newcastle and back to Clun. When arriving at Clun bridge, riders turn left and head back to Village Hall via Ford St.
The 91km route will be the same as the 56km, but when the 56km riders turn left over Clun bridge towards the finish, the 91km riders will turn left and start the notoriously leg-sapping double-climb from Clun to New Invention and then to Knighton. The course then heads back to Purslow via Twitchen and rolls gently back to Clun. Beware – this is a tougher course than the profile suggests.
The start will be at 8.00am. Both routes will be fully signposted. There will be one feed station on the 56km route and two on the 91km route. All finishers will receive a fantastic medal, a bottle of ‘Storm The Fort’ beer, plus complimentary post race refreshment.
There will also be a broomwagon for both routes.
